About this event

Twenty-some years ago, neighbors, gardeners, conservationists, and local organizations came together around a shared idea: that a small working farm could build community. Today, Newton Community Farm is open space that is protected, productive, and shared with neighbors near and far. It's a place where young people learn where food comes from, home gardeners build skills, and organizations tackling food insecurity find a partner. It’s also a place where neighbors, who might never otherwise meet, find themselves side by side.

What does it take to build and sustain a place like this? And how does a connection to land, to a specific place with a specific history, strengthen the bonds between the people who care for it and benefit from its bounty?

Join the Farm’s founding board president, Jon Regosin, for a conversation about how members from across the community came together to start the Farm. Jon will also explain what Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) means and how this simple idea, neighbors investing in a farm season by season in exchange for a share of the harvest, helped establish the Farm’s financial footing from the start.

This conversation will explore how the Farm has created a stronger, healthier, more resilient Newton--and how it will continue to build community in the years ahead.

This event will be held in the barn at Newton Community Farm, 303 Nahanton Street, Newton MA 02459.

This event is free, but registration is requested as space is limited.
