- ➤ The Metrowest Women’s Fund awarded $204K in grants to 22 nonprofits serving low-income women and girls on Jan. 13, boosting support for education, safety and empowerment. - ➤ Rev. Adam Isbitsky will lead his first worship service at Eliot Church in Natick on Sunday, Jan. 18 following a six-month search by church members. - ➤ On Jan. 13, 2026 at 1:05 p.m., the Golden Tones Chorus held a rehearsal at Edwards Church in Framingham where they unveiled a new banner. In its 37th season, the group of about 60 retired members has entertained MetroWest with nearly 40 concerts yearly. MetroWest Daily News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Framingham residents can now enjoy the improved Carol Getchell Nature Trail after ADA-compliant boardwalks and bridges were completed in the north and south sections, connecting paths to the Sudbury River corridor (design work to link the segments is underway). MetroWest Daily News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents receiving an unexpected package addressed to them in Massachusetts can keep the contents under state law+ they may wish to notify the sender to avoid billing issues. Packages meant for previous residents or others must remain sealed+ be returned to the mail carrier following federal guidelines. MetroWest Daily News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Today, health officials say Massachusetts sees high influenza activity due mainly to Influenza Type A including the harsher subclade K strain, although hospitalizations have dropped since December. The flu season includes common symptoms like fever + cough + body aches. MetroWest Daily News
