EDUCATION NEWS

  • Millis students visited the Christa McAuliffe Center for Integrated Science Learning at Framingham State on Challenger's 40th anniversary to learn about the space shuttle's legacy (a tribute to astronaut-educator Christa McAuliffe).  MetroWest Daily News
  • Sarah Hooke is serving as the interim dean of Henry Whittemore Library at Framingham State University, bringing years of experience in library science, law, and education from roles in Massachusetts and beyond. Hooke, who returned to libraries after retiring, advises students to finish their programs and seek campus support.  The Gatepost
  • Framingham State faculty and librarians must update digital course content to meet ADA guidelines by April 24 for compliance with federal law. The Education Technology Office offers workshops + the library provides OCR services to help prepare courses for accessible learning.  The Gatepost

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former Wayland police chief Ed Burman was hired as a senior project manager at Capital Strategic Solutions, a firm based in Marlborough, to lead public safety and emergency readiness trainings for local governments and schools. SPORTS NEWS

  • The Daily News asks readers to vote for the Girls Hockey midseason Player of the Year (stats are through Jan. 28), with votes accepted until Friday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m.  MetroWest Daily News
  • The Framingham State Rams beat Rivier Raiders 3-2 on Jan.24 in a conference ice hockey game, but lost to Anna Maria Amcats on Jan.29, now holding a 5-12 overall and 2-5 conference record (they will host Westfield State Owls on Jan.31).  The Gatepost
  • Framingham State women’s ice hockey beat Anna Maria College 7 to 4 on Jan. 24, snapping a losing streak of eight games; the team will travel to Rivier University on Jan. 31 to build momentum for the season.  The Gatepost
