  • Framingham State community mourns 22-year-old junior Wilmani Castillo, who died in a car accident on Feb. 9; a moment of silence is scheduled at Logan Gymnasium at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14 with visiting hours at Brady and Fallon Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 19.  The Gatepost

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Amazon Pharmacy announced its same-day prescription delivery will expand to Massachusetts by the end of 2026 as part of a nationwide rollout (using innovative transport methods). Customers ordering by 4 p.m. can expect delivery by 10 p.m., though further details remain unannounced.  MetroWest Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Feb. 10, the Center for Inclusive Excellence hosted its 'Taste of Culture' event to celebrate Black History Month with authentic cuisine from Jamaica, Haiti, Ghana and soul influences.   • Gas prices in Massachusetts rose slightly on Monday, Feb. 11, reaching $2.85 per gallon from $2.84 last week, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported. They remain 1.8% below the national average and 4% lower than a year ago.  MetroWest Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a Feb. 10 meeting, SGA approved $371,663 in funding for 33 student organizations from a starting fund of $419,480 (leaving $47,817 unallocated) for FY27 after reviewing budget proposals and group reassignments.  The Gatepost

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • MassWildlife noted that coyote mating season is active from late January through early March, so residents should supervise pets, secure outdoor food, and haze coyotes by shouting or waving arms — steps designed to keep both wildlife and families safe in our community.  MetroWest Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Census Bureau estimates showed Massachusetts’s population grew by only 15,524 (0.2% rate) from April 1, 2024 to July 1, 2025 as foreign immigration dropped sharply; a Senate Committee hearing on Feb. 10 warned that slower growth may affect congressional seats and redistricting.  MetroWest Daily News
  • On Thursday, Feb. 12, an aging water main (1926) broke on Salem End Road near a previous break, shutting off water on Salem End and Cherry Oca Roads as crews worked to repair the pipe while a detour stayed in place and motorists faced traffic delays.  MetroWest Daily News
