GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ National Grid has filed a petition to raise gas rates by nearly 10% so that revenues increase by $342 million, which could boost some residential heating bills by about $24 when the change takes effect Dec. 1. Public comments are accepted until 5:00 p.m. on April 30 at seven scheduled hearings in areas including Lowell + Haverhill. MetroWest Daily News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ According to Becker’s Hospital Review, Massachusetts hospitals recorded average ER wait times of 220 minutes & tied with Rhode Island for the third-longest in the nation while the national average was 161 minutes based on 2024 data reported yesterday. MetroWest Daily News
- ➤ State health officials (DPH) said that a seventh child died from flu during Feb. 1 to 7 and urged residents to get a flu shot to help prevent serious illness this season. MetroWest Daily News
