  • A rare Blood Moon peaks today as a total lunar eclipse occurs from 6:04 to 7:02 a.m. (it may be hard to see here due to the low horizon at sunrise).  MetroWest Daily News

  • Several restaurants plan to debut new locations in MetroWest this spring, with Chill Kitchen and Bar opening a new site in Westborough and Ramen Haven, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Fresh Monkee, Classic Pizza and Killa Pizza expanding in Sudbury, Hudson, Southborough, Milford and Ashland.  MetroWest Daily News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Massachusetts are up by a penny at $2.91 per gallon this week — rising oil prices amid Middle East conflict are pushing costs higher, though local rates remain 8 cents below the national average.  MetroWest Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The MetroWest YMCA received a grant on Monday, Mar. 2 to expand character programs at its summer camps in Framingham, Natick & Hopkinton. The funding will support group circles, guided lessons and staff training as part of the Character at Camp Grant Program, with registration open for summer day camps.  MetroWest Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Bald eagles have made a strong comeback after nearly disappearing a century ago, with over 100 pairs recorded in Massachusetts, especially near the Quabbin Reservoir + Connecticut River. Observers are advised to keep a safe distance from nests during winter courtship.  MetroWest Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • MetroWest Daily News sports reporters Tim Dumas and Kyle Grabowski won five APSE national awards for their 2025 coverage of high school and community sports in MetroWest. Their work was recognized in multiple categories, including explanatory, feature and project writing.  MetroWest Daily News
  • Framingham's Adriana DeGroat, Franklin's John Woodall and Milford's Derek Marcolini won All-States wrestling championships in Springfield (a proud local achievement in high school sports).  MetroWest Daily News
