ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that Massachusetts residents earned $42.90 per hour in December, a $0.90 increase from June, with weekly earnings of $1,424.28. This made Massachusetts the highest earner in New England while wages elsewhere ranged from $57.10 in Washington, D.C. to $27.91 in Mississippi. MetroWest Daily News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Massachusetts Gov. Healey has announced four commuter rail promotions for this summer, including free service on Fridays in June, July, and August, a 50% discount on monthly passes, expanded weekend travel, and a $1 companion fare on some trains. The deals do not apply to trains heading for Boston Stadium. MetroWest Daily News
- ➤ Social Security will mail SSI checks on Wednesday, Apr. 1 and retirement benefits on Wednesday, Apr. 8, 15, and 22 based on birth dates as scheduled by the agency for April. The timeline helps more than 1.3 million Massachusetts recipients plan their payments (about one in five in the state). MetroWest Daily News
