- ➤ On Saturday, April 11, Framingham firefighters rescued a horse stuck waist-deep in mud behind Grove Street after it was spooked, working with civilians to clear the mud and place hay so the 1,000-pound animal could safely walk away. MetroWest Daily News

- ➤ On Monday, April 13, a fire on the second floor of an apartment building at 340 Hollis St. displaced seven residents when firefighters achieved a quick knockdown — police also rescued two caged birds and are investigating the cause. MetroWest Daily News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Framingham State University will rename Hemenway Laboratories as the Professor Thomas and Joan Eames Laboratories following a $2 million donation by a retired professor and his family. A ceremony including sign unveiling and family remarks is set for Friday, Apr. 17 at 4:30 p.m. in the lab's main atrium. MetroWest Daily News
- ➤ MassBay Community College students were named global nominees for the NASA Space Apps Challenge after winning a local Cambridge event on April 13. The MassBay Hackaneers built an AI model for exoplanet hunting and will present their project at an international event soon. MetroWest Daily News
