CRIME NEWS

  • Framingham and Wayland firefighters discovered human remains near Exit 117 on the Mass Pike on April 10 while fighting a brush fire—preliminary details indicate the remains may have been there for several months with no sign of foul play.  MetroWest Daily News
  • On March 16, police said an Ashland man named Samuel Delaney Jr. shot another man on Waverly Street in Framingham after a dispute over a woman—he was arrested on April 11 and is held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing set for April 17.  MetroWest Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Framingham Health Department said it stopped last year's bi-weekly cyanobacteria testing at Lake Cochituate and Lake Waushakum — now using weekly E. Coli tests to keep beach operations safe. The department continues monitoring water quality to meet strict public health guidelines for beach permits.  City of Framingham

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Framingham City Councilor Adam Steiner said on April 14 he will not run again this fall to focus on work and family — his decision may lead to fresh ideas on the council. Nomination papers for council seats for the Nov. 4 election will be available on May 30.  MetroWest Daily News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data released showed that homes in Middlesex County had higher prices in January, with the median sale price rising from $750,000 to $775,000—up 3.3% from December and 14% higher than January last year. Sales of single-family homes increased by 5.5% and condominiums by 4.9%, with overall recorded sales growing 11.5% since January 2024 — figures that show a strong market trend.  MetroWest Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nearly 32,000 runners are set to start the Boston Marathon on April 21 in Hopkinton, with around 30,000 expected on race day and over 4,600 being Massachusetts residents. The Boston Athletic Association reported that the race will see 57% men, 43% women, and 76 non-binary entrants among participants from all 50 states and 128 countries.  MetroWest Daily News
