CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Many well-known movies have been partly filmed in Massachusetts in recent years. Films such as Challengers and Don't Look Up—shot in towns including Framingham and Boston—show that the Bay State remains a key location for Hollywood productions. MetroWest Daily News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The U.S. Department of Labor reported Thursday that initial filings for unemployment benefits in Massachusetts fell last week from 4,892 to 4,800—reflecting a small drop in jobless claims. MetroWest Daily News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Runners aged 18 to 34 needed to run nearly 7 minutes faster than 3:00 for men and 3:30 for women to qualify for the 2025 Boston Marathon—with a record cut-off of 6:51—and qualifying times for 2026 will drop by five minutes as the marathon is set for Monday, April 21. MetroWest Daily News
- ➤ The Boston Marathon will run tomorrow on Patriots' Day, starting in Hopkinton and passing through Framingham before ending near the Boston Public Library in Copley Square. The course is mostly downhill but includes four hills in Newton and a tough half-mile at Heartbreak Hill (a 5% slope) that tests runners. MetroWest Daily News
- ➤ Tomorrow, more than 32,000 runners will race from Hopkinton through Greater Boston in the 129th Boston Marathon as reported by the Boston Athletic Association. About 4,600 of the runners are Massachusetts residents (roughly 14% of the field) and the entrants include men, women and 76 non-binary participants from all 50 states and 128 countries.
