- ➤ Sister M. Brendan Rosarie passed away peacefully at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham on May 7 after 77 years in religious life. Family and friends will gather on May 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. — her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury. Framingham Source

- ➤ American-born Robert Francis Prevost was elected as Pope Leo XIV on May 8, making him the first American pope as Massachusetts Catholics celebrated his election and hoped he would continue the inclusive work of Pope Francis — local leaders in Fall River, New Bedford, and Framingham planned services including a Mass on May 16 to honor the new pope. - ➤ Framingham City Council approved a plan to rename the Main Street Bridge in honor of Agnes 'Ginger' Esty, a longtime selectwoman and Town Meeting member who died in November. - ➤ The City of Framingham’s Water Division will start its hydrant flushing program Tuesday, May 13 which will take four to six weeks with work each Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Affected residents might notice temporary water discoloration and low pressure — the division will monitor water quality and system pressure throughout the process.
