- ➤ Framingham is asking volunteers to help place over 5,000 flags on veterans’ graves ahead of Memorial Day. Participants will gather at Edgell Grove Cemetery at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, to receive assignments and honor veterans across all seven cemeteries. MetroWest Daily News
- ➤ Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester will host its annual MetroWest Build-a-Thon (Operation Playhouse) on Friday, May 15, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Natick’s AmVets Post 79, where four partner teams will build the 600th playhouse for a veteran or military family. - ➤ A SouthEast Kitchen (a new Thai restaurant) opened yesterday in Trolley Square. Owner Asek Sritrai now serves Thai dishes including red curry with chicken and Pad Thai for locals. MetroWest Daily News
- ➤ A South East Kitchen opened in late April on Route 9 at Trolley Square Plaza and now serves Thai dishes like Red Curry, Shrimp Pad Thai, and shareable appetizers. Five other MetroWest restaurants, including Brass Tap and Ramen Haven, have also opened or will open soon. MetroWest Daily News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Massachusetts is returning to drought conditions after a dry April as recent reports show the state slipping from normal to mild and even significant drought in some areas (the Drought Management Task Force advises residents to cut water use). MetroWest Daily News

- ➤ Voting is open for the Daily News Boys Athlete of the Week poll for May 4-10 until noon Monday, May 18, where high school athletes from baseball, lacrosse, volleyball, tennis and track are recognized for standout performances.
