  • The Framingham Human Relations Commission will host an Immigrant Rights & Resources Night on May 22 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. via Zoom—covering legal rights, family preparedness, student safety and mental health support—and experts will answer questions while offering Spanish and Portuguese translation services.  MetroWest Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • Framingham priest Monsignor Francis V. Strahan, 91, was cleared of sexual abuse allegations by the Archdiocese of Boston after criminal charges were dropped when the accuser declined to testify, and he will visit St. Bridget Parish in June even though he will not return to his former post due to his retired status.  MetroWest Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Towerwall Inc.—a Framingham-based cybersecurity firm—donated $7,500 to MassBay Community College to support seven additional scholarships awarded in $1,000 increments, continuing a 15-year partnership that has raised over $72,500. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Cicada Brood XIV is emerging in Massachusetts after spending 17 years underground, and research shows these insects do not bite. The cicadas will be visible for about five weeks and are not dangerous to pets — they mainly cause noise and a natural display that debunks common myths.  MetroWest Daily News

  • Gov. Healey hosted a meet-and-greet on May 15th at the State House where astronaut Suni Williams, who returned after nine months in space, met local students and received a Governor’s Citation for her service.
