EDUCATION NEWS

  • Framingham High School senior Noe Cuxil Elias saw his painting displayed on a Mass Pike billboard yesterday — his work, which is also shown on school walls, has drawn local attention to his creative talent. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell joined 15 other states in a lawsuit to block new NSF rules that cap indirect costs and cut programs meant to increase diversity in research. Campbell said the changes will hurt research in Massachusetts and may weaken the nation’s grip on scientific leadership— the suit seeks a court order to stop these policies.  MetroWest Daily News
  • On May 29, the Finance Subcommittee released its final recommendation for the FY26 municipal budget as local officials outlined new resources for immigrants.   • The Food and Drug Administration announced a recall of 17 salad and salsa products made with cucumbers from Bedner Growers due to salmonella concerns—these items were sold in Massachusetts from May 6 to May 21, and grocery stores have also recalled cucumbers linked to an outbreak that sickened 26 people and hospitalized nine.  MetroWest Daily News
