Good morning, Framingham.

MassBay Community College will host the free Framingham Family Fest at 490 Franklin Street on Saturday, June 21, 2025 — families can enjoy live music, food, children’s activities and a vehicle display from Village Auto Group while exploring new campus labs and programs.
🎓 Education
MassBay Community College’s Framingham campus building earned LEED Gold certification for its green design—using solar panels, a geothermal system and recycled materials—and now produces as much energy as it uses.
The facility at 490 Franklin St. supports programs in health sciences, early childhood education and human services.
🏛️ Government
Framingham officials withdrew a plan to reduce the downtown Central Business district map during Tuesday’s City Council meeting as they work to meet the MBTA Communities Act requirements; a new map will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Subcommittee on June 16—well before the July 14 deadline. Council members worry that reducing the district could lead to non-compliance that might affect state funding for local projects.
18-year-old Marcelo Gomes da Silva from Milford was detained by ICE at a Burlington facility for six days before being released on bail on June 5 — he said he slept on concrete floors with limited access to basic necessities while Congressmen Seth Moulton and Jake Auchincloss inspected the conditions.
The Framingham Community Preservation Committee announced that the City Council approved $1.74 million on April 29 for seven projects supporting housing, recreation, open space and historic preservation — funding that builds on investments since the CPA began in 2020 — and will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 16th at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Building or via Zoom for residents to share input on future CPA plans.
Supporters of detained Marcelo Gomes da Silva of Milford cheered outside Lowell Immigration Court in Chelmsford on June 5 when officials announced his release & his attorney and girlfriend stood by his side.
