  • MetroWest Medical Center teams are donating 812 boxes of cereal and healthy breakfast items to Framingham and Natick food pantries this month as part of their annual Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive—employees doubled their efforts after hearing thanks from parents last year. EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Tuesday, June 24 at 4:00 p.m., the Christa McAuliffe Center and FSU Planetarium will host a public planetarium program titled 'We Are Guardians'—featuring a live presentation and film on climate and ecosystem changes. • Massachusetts education leaders warned Tuesday that a House plan to limit Pell Grant aid—by raising credit requirements—could cut nearly $60 million in support from free community college programs and affect 45,000 residents. The proposed changes would also drive a 29% increase in student loan interest rates as Senate negotiators work on a final bill.  MetroWest Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Massachusetts now charges a 6.25% sales tax on cable boxes with DVR features or streaming access — the change came after the Department of Revenue removed the longstanding exemption, and customers who buy, rent or lease these devices may see higher bills.
