COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Nine shelters in Massachusetts are waiving fees for dogs one year old or older from today through June 29, with MSPCA-Angell + its partners aiming to rehome at least 100 dogs and free up space for incoming animals during the summer months.  MetroWest Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • MetroWest Medical Center has issued guidelines for residents to stay safe during dangerously hot conditions expected this week, advising people to drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and avoid strenuous activity from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The center warns that confusion, seizures, or loss of consciousness may signal heat stroke—conditions that require immediate medical help.  Framingham Source
  • Framingham has opened cooling centers at the Main Library and Callahan Center as temperatures have soared to triple digits during an ongoing heat wave. The City also offers three public beaches for safe outdoor recreation — residents, especially seniors, children and those with health problems, are urged to use these safe spaces and call 9-1-1 if they experience symptoms of heat illness.  City of Framingham

  • Residents in Framingham are advised to pack a 72-hour go-bag — a kit filled with essentials like a first aid kit, nonperishable food, water and chargers for power outages, severe weather or unrest. REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data from Realtor.com showed that in May, the median listing price in Middlesex County was $989,450—slightly lower than $992,000 in the previous month and 4.6% below May's price of $1,082,450 from last year. Homes averaged 2,200 square feet at $494 per square foot, moved quickly with a median market time of 19 days, and saw 2,148 new listings, a 29.1% increase from May 2024.  MetroWest Daily News
