COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Nonprofit Daniel's Table received MetroWest Subaru’s Share the Love Award 2024 on July 7 for its efforts to end food insecurity in Framingham—its programs have delivered nearly 130,000 meals to about 9,000 people. The group celebrated the honor with a check ceremony that highlighted its key initiatives such as the Full Belly Bags Program, Community Freezer Program, and weekly Farmer’s Market.  Framingham Source
  • The Rotary Club of Framingham named Daniel’s Table as Organization of the Year because it combats food insecurity by running 33 freezers at local schools, libraries, and college sites and recently launched a Full Belly Bag program for children during summer — a move that highlights its practical help for residents.  MetroWest Daily News
  • Modern Wellness has grown into a hub for healing and community events—offering treatments like infrared sauna, red light therapy, and cold plunges at 1644 Concord Street. CULTURE NEWS

  • The American Heritage Museum in Hudson will host a World War II Pacific Theater reenactment on July 12—13 featuring infantry camps, authentic gear and aircraft if weather permits; ticket prices are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors and veterans, and $20 for children ages 3 to 16, with free admission for museum members, World War II and Korean War veterans, and children under 3.  MetroWest Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, the Christa McAuliffe Center — home to the FSU Planetarium at Framingham State University — is hosting a summer public program that pairs live astronomy presentations with a screening of the animated film Fly Me to the Moon at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are required and the show will run for 60 to 75 minutes.  Framingham Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Framingham City Council is seeking a three-year, at-large member for its Community Preservation Committee — a group that reviews projects such as historic preservation, affordable housing, parks and recreation. Framingham residents with expertise or interest in land use or municipal finance must submit a resume and cover letter by Tuesday, July 15 at 11:59 p.m.  City of Framingham

  • Framingham residents can vote for one of 16 top candidates for Girls Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year, including sprinters, distance runners, jumpers, and throwers from 10 regional programs such as Natick + Wellesley. The poll remains open until noon July 15.  MetroWest Daily News
