  • Nobscot neighbors discussed a development idea at the Edgell Road & Edmands Road intersection while Shoppers World owners presented a mixed-use plan to the City Council and local business owners voiced concerns over tariffs on Brazilian imports.  The Frame

CRIME NEWS

  • William Pusateri, a Framingham man with previous paving scam convictions, faces charges for allegedly scamming a Natick woman out of $900 for driveway work on March 12—he pleaded not guilty on July 7 and is set for a pretrial conference on Aug. 7.  MetroWest Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Framingham State University will hold active shooter response training exercises on July 22 and 23 at Henry Whittemore Library on its east side—sessions run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and are managed by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to help FSU Police and local emergency teams prepare for simulated incidents.  MetroWest Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Framingham will hold seven contested races in its biennial election on Nov. 4, including a mayoral contest between incumbent Charlie Sisitsky + former School Committee member Geoffrey Epstein and competitive City Council and School Committee seats. A preliminary election for the District 2 School Committee is set for Sept. 16 if candidates do not withdraw by Aug. 1, while several other races remain unopposed.  MetroWest Daily News
  • Framingham Highway Department and Newport Construction will start road work on Maple Street and Mount Wayte Avenue on July 24, with milling, paving, and sidewalk construction planned from July 21 through the week. The projects will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.—drivers should plan alternative routes as traffic delays are expected.  City of Framingham
  • Jamie Barry—a Framingham MEMA employee—was deployed on July 17 to Texas to aid flood recovery after deadly floods. She works as a survivor coordinator to manage donations and volunteers and will help people access emergency shelters and federal aid under a federal mutual aid program.  MetroWest Daily News

  • Twenty-two baseball players including Division 1 commitments, league players of the year and rising stars from 16 schools are competing for the 2025 Daily News Fans Baseball Player of the Year award – Natick leads with three candidates while Medway, Algonquin, Hopedale and Franklin also have multiple entries.
