Framingham Fest is set for Saturday, Oct.

A Hopkinton couple, Ronaldo Solano and his wife Adriana, were sentenced to federal prison for defrauding workers' compensation carriers by underreporting payroll and misusing COVID-19 relief funds to buy a luxury home — Ronaldo received a one-year prison term with house arrest after his July 28 sentencing while Adriana was given time served as they face over $2.2 million in restitution.

The water at Waushakum and Learned Pond beaches was closed on July 29 after tests found high E. coli levels — a bacteria that can cause stomach illness — and city officials said they will test the water further before reopening the beaches.
