- ➤ Framingham Day will be held on Aug. 10 at Polar Park during a WooSox game against the Buffalo Bisons with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch — city officials will host special recognitions and on-field activities while ticket sales fund local youth programs at the Boys and Girls Clubs of MetroWest. - ➤ NASA said the Dumbbell Nebula will be visible this August for stargazers in Framingham with binoculars or a small telescope because it will show up as a faint patch of light in the Summer Triangle between Altair and Deneb. It was first discovered in 1764 and will need clear skies away from city lights for the best view. MetroWest Daily News

- ➤ The City of Framingham’s Water & Wastewater Division resumed water infrastructure work on Second Street today with bypass piping set up between the Beaver Brook bridge & Waverly Street and a detour using Taralli Terrace to keep traffic moving. The work will continue throughout August with hydrant installations, excavation at the Waverly Street end, and planned night work at the Second & Waverly Street intersection as part of broader upgrades tied to the city’s paving schedule & school reopening timelines. - ➤ Mosquitoes collected in Framingham tested positive for West Nile virus during routine surveillance, and officials said pesticide spraying will begin next week to thwart potential infections (residents are advised to use insect repellent and avoid outdoor activities at dusk and dawn). - ➤ On July 19, Robbie Gomes had a cardiac arrest while driving after a visit to Natick Mall—his 16-year-old son Joshua used CPR skills learned in his Bristol-Plymouth health class to save his father.
