- ➤ The Community Preservation Committee recommended an extra $75,000 for developing an accessible dock at Waushakum Pond after voting on August 11—City Council will soon decide on approving the funds. Planning Director Sarkis Sarkisian said the work will include contingencies and may allow residents to use the dock in the fall. The Frame

- ➤ Three Rhode Island men pleaded guilty in Middlesex Superior Court for burglaries targeting Indian and South Asian homes in 25 communities between 2018 and 2024, resulting in theft of more than $4 million in jewelry, cash & valuables and leading to prison sentences ranging from nine to thirteen years while using wireless jammers to avoid detection. - ➤ A Natick roofer pleaded guilty to tax evasion and was sentenced on Aug. 12 to one year in federal prison with one year of supervised release — the judge also ordered him to pay $449,329 in restitution. MetroWest Daily News

- ➤ A report from ProCare Therapy ranked Massachusetts school lunches as the 15th best in the nation—local programs such as Farm to School, edible gardens, and free meals helped raise daily student participation by 11,000. - ➤ Friendly's, a Massachusetts ice cream company, is recalling 48-ounce cartons of Cookies and Cream ice cream that were mistakenly packaged in Vanilla Bean cartons (which do not list soy and wheat allergens). Customers in Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland who have purchased the product with a best by date of Nov. 26 should return it for a full refund; no illnesses have been reported.
