Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 18th of August.
Good morning, Framingham.
🏛️ Government
Geoff Epstein, a former School Committee member, is running to become our third mayor by challenging incumbent Mayor Charlie Sisitsky and pledges to improve schools—by boosting local funding and preschool programs, increasing solar projects, and repairing roads and sewers.
He has vowed not to accept real estate donations and will face Sisitsky in the Nov. 4 election.
Framingham will have truck-mounted aerosol spraying on August 21 to reduce mosquitoes that have tested positive for West Nile Virus—spraying will cover several streets such as Savoy Road and Clara Road, and residents should go indoors and close windows while the spray dissipates.
🏈 Sports
The 2025 high school football season in MetroWest and greater Milford is set to begin in early September with teams like Algonquin, Ashland, and Framingham scheduling games through November—matchups are arranged for Friday evenings and weekends with times and venues provided for each contest.
