  • On Wednesday, September 3, MetroWest Chamber of Commerce at 860 Worcester Rd in Framingham will host Market Like a Hotshot Live—a live marketing podcast with interactive Q&A—and Business After Hours for networking with pizza and light refreshments. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Framingham is launching a curbside composting pilot program today in partnership with Black Earth Compost for households with four units or fewer. Subscribers get a free bin and liner bags—supplies are limited and service prices will drop after 900 households join.  MetroWest Daily News

  • The MBTA’s General Manager will share his vision for the future of public transportation in Massachusetts at a special event aimed at outlining key priorities and transit strategies—providing MetroWest residents with a clear view of planned changes.  Framingham Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • Trilliant Health (a health care analytics firm) released a report showing that hospitals in Massachusetts charge very different prices for the same services, with a knee replacement costing from $12,870 to $101,527. The study used data from UnitedHealth Group (and Aetna) and said that higher prices do not mean better care and may lead to big bills.  MetroWest Daily News

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Massachusetts residents are voting for their favorite food brand from an initial pool of 32 and have narrowed the choices to Toll House Chocolate Chips, Cape Cod Potato Chips, Ken’s Salad Dressings and Kayem Hot Dogs—voting remains open until Aug. 24 with the final round set to start on Aug. 26.  MetroWest Daily News
  • MetroWest’s food scene is busy as new restaurants and expansions open in the region—Karma in Wellesley now serves Asian fusion dishes, B-Town Diner in Bellingham opened on Aug. 13 serving breakfast and cocktails, Wayside Inn in Sudbury will launch its 1716 Beer Garden on Aug. 22 after a soft opening on Aug. 15, Virsa De Punjab is set to open a second location at 99 Central St. in Wellesley, Natick’s Wonder food hall is renovating a plaza with an $800,000 investment, and Picco Pizza & Ice Cream in Marlborough held its grand opening on Aug. 2 after opening in late July.  MetroWest Daily News
