- ➤ Massachusetts health officials confirmed the first human case of West Nile virus this year in a woman in her 70s who was exposed in Middlesex County — 319 mosquito samples from 12 counties had tested positive — and they warned that the risk from the virus will remain high. MetroWest Daily News

- ➤ Five new restaurants are expanding dining choices in and near Framingham this fall, including Caipy Sports Bar at 672 Waverly St.—which celebrated its grand opening last month—as well as Cluck & Crispy Chicken at 75 Concord St. that opened on Aug. 27, BlueSquare Pizza at 309 Main St. in Northborough, Brio 33 in Westborough set to replace Tavolino, and Dilli Darbar continuing Woodlands’ Indian fare.
