- ➤ Baypath Humane Society has broken ground on an 8,200–square-foot animal shelter at 66 Fruit St. in Hopkinton that will feature extra space for dogs and cats as well as a dedicated medical area, with foundation work set to start this fall and completion expected next year. MetroWest Daily News

- ➤ A Framingham man tested positive for West Nile virus on Sept. 5th which raised the city's risk level to high and marked the third human case in Massachusetts—local mosquito control sprayed the area about a half dozen times to reduce exposure. MetroWest Daily News
- ➤ During Recovery Awareness Month, state representative Kate Donaghue and Anchored in Recovery’s director Bridget Nicholson discussed local and state plans to fight the opioid crisis. A vigil was held outside the Memorial Building to honor overdose victims—community support remains key. The Frame
