  • Market Basket’s board named longtime chief financial officer Donald T. Mulligan as interim CEO following the firing of former CEO Arthur T. Demoulas amid a family feud. Mulligan, a Lowell native with 42 years at Market Basket, will lead the grocery chain’s 95 stores — ensuring the 'More For Your Dollar' shopping experience continues.  MetroWest Daily News
  • Wonder — a virtual food hall that uses one kitchen for multiple restaurant concepts — will open a location at 571 Worcester Road in Framingham in November, along with new sites in Natick, Belmont, and Acton. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Massachusetts gas prices slightly declined last week with regular fuel reaching $3.08 per gallon on Monday—down from $3.11 per gallon the week prior. Prices are 2.8% lower than the national average of $3.17 while still rising 5 cents since last month.  MetroWest Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Framingham voters in District 2 cast less than 5% in a preliminary election—newcomer Lorena Tovar with 146 votes and incumbent David Gordon with 81 votes will appear on the Nov. 4 ballot for the school board seat while challenger Luther T. Evans was eliminated. Voter registration ends Oct. 25 and public officials will be sworn in on Jan. 1.  MetroWest Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Parents of a Milford teen briefly detained by ICE on Sept. 12 met with agents on Tuesday and were released under conditions — they must wear ankle monitors and check in at a Framingham office in two weeks, which will limit the father’s work time. The undocumented Brazilian family, living here for four years and seeking asylum, now faces strict rules while they await further notice.  MetroWest Daily News

  • Local high schools are inviting community votes for the Girls High School Athlete of the Week contest covering Sept. 9-15 with top players such as Hopedale volleyball’s Olivia Barroso and Algonquin field hockey’s Anna Beville highlighted for their key performances — with Barroso tallying 40 assists and Beville making nine saves.
