GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Framingham Public Works began inspecting city-owned stormwater drainage structures — working with Weston and Sampson Engineers to identify improvements and reduce pollutant runoff in several neighborhoods. Work crews will use city easements for quick, 30-minute checks at each site as inspections continue through October weather permitting.  City of Framingham
  • The Framingham Highway Department announced that Newport Construction will begin milling on Everit Avenue on September 25 and pave it on September 29—weather permitting—with work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., leaving only residents, buses, and emergency vehicles on the road while drivers are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays.  City of Framingham
  • Framingham Public Works announced that Eversource Gas will begin milling on Salem End Road and a section of Singletary Lane on Tuesday, September 23 and start paving on Wednesday, September 24 — westbound traffic at Temple Street will be rerouted via Temple Street to Route 9 West and Gates Road before returning to Salem End Road — so drivers should plan alternate routes and expect delays.  City of Framingham
  • Framingham Community Development Department is accepting proposals for CDBG funding that will cover projects from July 1 through June 30 for fiscal year 2027, with submissions open today until November 25. A virtual information session will be held on September 29 at 2 p.m.—nonprofits and City departments are encouraged to apply under the Public Service category.  City of Framingham

  • Eleven high school football players from MetroWest and Milford earned nominations as Daily News Week 3 Football Player of the Week—a nod to their standout performances in recent games.  MetroWest Daily News
  • Local high school football athletes are competing for the Daily News Week 3 Player of the Week award, with 11 candidates available for voting until 6 p.m. September 25. Last week, Nipmuc's quarterback Josh Giancola scored four touchdowns in a win over Dover-Sherborn—his performance winning him the Week 2 honor.  MetroWest Daily News
