  • Advocates Inc. a Framingham human service provider announced that its long-time CEO Diane Gould will retire on June 30—COO Regina Marshall will take over as president and CEO on July 1. The nonprofit helps over 40,000 people facing health and social challenges.  MetroWest Daily News
  • On September 29th, Greater Framingham Community Church celebrated three years of its partnership with DoorDash’s Project DASH—delivering meals to neighbors facing food insecurity while local leaders highlighted the program's impact.  MetroWest Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Harvest Moon, a full supermoon that will appear larger and brighter than usual, will rise on Oct. 6 and peak at 11:47 p.m. + it is the season’s first supermoon and offers extra evening light for local stargazers and farmers.  MetroWest Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Heather Florance, a student in MassBay’s radiologic technology program—who has maintained a 3.9 GPA while working as a pharmacy technician—is honoring her late mother’s legacy by pursuing a future in computed tomography and interventional radiography. She will graduate in May 2027 and plans to build her career while keeping her mother’s memory close.  Framingham Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Framingham Department of Public Works announced that Newport Construction will work on Edgell Road from Central Street to Water Street from today through October 2. Crews will adjust castings on manholes and water gates — drivers should expect alternating traffic patterns and delays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.  City of Framingham

HEALTH NEWS

  • MetroWest public health officials said the state expanded COVID vaccine recommendations on Sept. 17 to ensure broader access through pharmacies and insurer coverage; new guidelines cover key groups and contrast with federal changes that reduced universal recommendations—keeping residents better protected.
