CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The A Cappella Singers, a MetroWest choral group with over 60 years of history, will premiere Brad Hart’s new work Upright — funded by a grant from the Natick Cultural Council — in December concerts at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Framingham on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. and at the First Congregational Church in Natick on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. MetroWest Daily News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On September 29, the Student Government Association swore in 16 new members—comprising a vice president, secretary, publicist, and 13 senators—and approved Jobe Murphy as a senator despite his loss in the race for vice president; the group will hold a retreat today and October 4 to review SGA rules. - ➤ On Sept. 29, President Nancy Niemi gave the first State of the University address for AY 2025–26 at Framingham State and stressed that fairness and inclusion are essential. She detailed a plan to boost student retention and graduation and noted that most students now come from minority backgrounds. The Gatepost
- ➤ Stephanie Logan has been named Dean of Education and Behavioral and Social Sciences at Framingham State after a long career as a teacher, counselor, and college educator. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Framingham voters will decide on a ballot question in the Nov. 4 election that asks if changes to the city charter should be made—these changes include a three-term limit for the mayor, a new chief climate and sustainability officer, and updated processes for voting and budgeting. - ➤ Framingham State Police Department is launching its 8th annual Pink Patch Project this October to raise breast cancer awareness by selling $10 pink patches that benefit Susan G.
