CULTURE NEWS

  • An Indigenous People's Day observance took place yesterday at Greater Framingham Community Church where leaders read a land acknowledgment and performed a ceremonial drum beat — Mayor Charlie Sisitsky issued a proclamation — while about 50 people attended.  MetroWest Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Spring 2025 MCAS scores show that Framingham Public Schools made moderate progress but some schools, including Framingham High and several elementary and middle schools, need extra help. Local education officials will focus on improving instruction and tackling chronic absenteeism (tailoring support for each school) to boost student learning and close the gap with statewide averages.  The Frame
  • Students, faculty, and staff have experienced repeated elevator outages at key campus buildings since early July, with the McCarthy Center and Foster Hall facing issues that limit access to essential services. FINANCE NEWS

  • A $1 million Powerball ticket purchased at a Natick 7-Eleven was claimed by the September 18 Trust Agreement on October 2 at the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters — trustee Cristina Offenberg made the claim. The store earned a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket, and winners must use a trust because prizes cannot be claimed anonymously.  MetroWest Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The New England Patriots beat the New Orleans Saints 25-19 on Sunday—boosting their record to 4-2 and setting up a game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville where they are favored by 6 points. Quarterback Drake Maye completed 18 of 26 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns while the Titans now stand at 1-5.  MetroWest Daily News
