- ➤ Today, L.L.Bean opens its newest 20,000-square-foot store at Fresh Market Plaza on Worcester Rd in Framingham with a ribbon cutting at 8:45 a.m.—family activities and gift giveaways will continue on Saturday while the brand donates $10,000 to MetroWest YMCA. Framingham Source
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Framingham’s 325th Celebration Committee has invited photographers with a local connection to submit original works for a juried photography exhibition that honors the city’s spirit—entries are due by November 30 at 11:59 p.m. The committee will notify selected artists during the week of December 14 and expects all framed works to be delivered by January 5 at 5 p.m. City of Framingham
- ➤ The Danforth Art Museum and School at Framingham State University will celebrate 50 years of art and education on November 22 at Village Hall. The celebration will feature a VIP pre-reception, silent auction, live music and food—supporting future exhibitions, classes and outreach programs. Framingham Source

- ➤ Framingham State received the HEED Award for boosting diversity and campus mental health support—making it the only institution in the state system to win the honor. The award from Insight into Academia recognized the university’s efforts to enhance student well-being and outreach to diverse communities. The Gatepost
- ➤ On Nov. 4th, the Student Government Association approved a Diversity and Inclusion Committee led by Ana Julia Ribeiro with a vote of 16 to 1 to address campus racism and related issues. The meeting also discussed a donate-a-meal program, commuter space improvements and the appointment of new senator Kimberly Martinez — efforts that aim to shape student governance. The Gatepost
- ➤ School leaders in Framingham are planning a new south side elementary school to replace Hemenway Elementary—aiming for a fall opening in 2030 on the former Sisters of St. Joseph property along Bethany Road. The construction will begin in September 2028 after a City Council vote in August and further steps including design selection in January 2026. The Frame
- ➤ Professor Bruce Bucci of Framingham State brings over 12 years of experience teaching American Sign Language and Deaf Studies—he has taught at several schools including Boston University and now leads an active, community-focused program at FSU. He uses his background from Rhode Island College, McDaniel College, and Gallaudet University to prepare his students for events like the upcoming Building Bridges, Taking Down Walls event that strengthens ties between Deaf and hearing communities. - ➤ Tens of thousands of Massachusetts residents who rely on SNAP will receive partial benefits in November as the USDA cuts maximum payments by 50% following court orders (the DTA estimates benefits will start arriving one week after Nov. 4).
