  • City officials honored centenarian Dorothy Tosti McGuire on Nov. 10 with proclamations for her 50-year career—including her role at Dallas Insurance—as she nears her 100th birthday. Framingham declared Monday, Nov. 17 as Dorothy Tosti McGuire Day—she remains active with bridge games, mall walks, and family dinners.  MetroWest Daily News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • MetroWest's dining scene grew as Lunch On The Charles opened at 57 Eliot St. in Natick, FireBird Pizza started in Wellesley, and Brio 33 launched in Westborough—formed by former Tavolino staff. Meanwhile, the virtual food hall Wonder postponed its MetroWest openings until February and Erica's Ristorante in Ashland closed permanently due to health issues.  MetroWest Daily News

  • Today, schools, public libraries, RMV offices, banks and post offices are closed in observance of Veterans Day—USPS offers only priority mail and digital banking while grocery stores and the stock market operate on normal hours, and residents should review local updates for trash pickup and delivery changes.  MetroWest Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Massachusetts high school football will see 64 teams start Elite 8 playoff contests on Friday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. with one game on Saturday, Nov. 15, while a non-playoff match is set in Framingham on Thursday, Nov. 13 — additional MetroWest and small and medium school tournaments will also take place this weekend.  MetroWest Daily News
  • Franklin girls soccer advanced to the quarterfinals after Lily Strong scored a crucial goal early in the second half, breaking a 1-1 tie in rainy, windy conditions against Lincoln-Sudbury on Monday’s Division 1 Round of 16 match—No. 6 Panthers will host No. 14 Hopkinton at 6 p.m. on Thursday.  MetroWest Daily News
