ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Residents returned to Towers on Nov 19 after a fire started on Nov 12 in room 671 when a non-certified light fixture ignited — the sprinkler system limited water damage and 22 students were temporarily relocated while repairs continue.  The Gatepost

BUSINESS NEWS

  • On Nov. 20, Eversource cut power on the west side of State Street around 2:25 p.m. to service a transformer near Maple, affecting the McCarthy Center, the Welcome Center, and local homes — power was restored by 3:13 p.m. with backup systems keeping emergency equipment running.  The Gatepost

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Clara Machado began her role as area director of Larned, Peirce, and Horace Mann halls at Framingham State and brings a strong background in student affairs from Clark University and experience as a resident director. She is committed to guiding students to ask for help and seize opportunities (she also enjoys hiking with her dog Orwell) as she builds a supportive campus community.  The Gatepost
  • The Gatepost Editorial says college students who struggle to get enough food can get help at the Rams Resource Center on campus and local food pantries. The piece explains that SNAP benefits are active until September and asks community members to donate food and supplies during the busy holiday season.  The Gatepost
  • Aili Schiavoni, president of Framingham State Fashion Club, earned a Student Spotlight Award at the Nov. 4 Board of Trustees Meeting and said it spurred her confidence in taking a leadership role. She will take a gap year after finishing her senior portfolio and plans to pursue graduate school—while promoting eco-friendly practices in fashion design.  The Gatepost
  • On November 18, the SGA hosted its first Administrators’ Forum where campus leaders discussed transfer credit challenges and the frequent elevator breakdowns at McCarthy Center—administrators explained plans to review vendor reports and stock parts to reduce downtime. Additional steps include expanding support for both resident and commuter students and gathering feedback through a planned commuter survey.  The Gatepost

SPORTS NEWS

  • Natick's boys soccer team last reached the state final 38 years ago when a five overtime match ended in a 2-1 loss to Springfield Cathedral. The current Redhawks advanced to Saturday's Division 1 final (12:15 p.m. at Doyle Field in Leominster) after winning two overtime games earlier this month.  MetroWest Daily News
  • The Framingham State Rams lost 3-1 to the Bridgewater State Bears on November 15th in the MASCAC Championship game — ending their season at 18-13 overall and 6-2 in conference play. Junior Natalie Reynolds, named Offensive Player of the Year, said the team fought hard and plans to return to the championship next season.  The Gatepost
  • Local high school soccer players were named All-American and All-New England by United Soccer Coaches of America—honors given to standout athletes who helped lead their teams to key playoff rounds. The list includes seniors and juniors from schools such as Wellesley, Natick, Medfield, and Lincoln-Sudbury who made significant contributions in state competition.  MetroWest Daily News
  • Framingham State Rams won their home opener on Nov. 18 by beating Colby-Sawyer 79 to 64 and improving their record to 3 to 2. Coach Donald Morris Jr. said the team adjusted well despite missing key player Joshua Sa and will build depth as they prepare for their non-conference game at Roger Williams University on Nov. 22 — the effort is aimed at strengthening team cohesiveness for future challenges.  The Gatepost
