  • The American Automobile Association said record Thanksgiving travel will boost traffic in Massachusetts, with Boston traffic expected to peak at 11:45 a.m. today—drivers along Pilgrims Highway South may face delays up to two hours. Travelers should fuel up and check their vehicles before leaving.  MetroWest Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • In November 1621, Pilgrims in Plymouth feasted with local Indigenous people after a tense encounter — the Wampanoag initially came after hearing muskets that sounded like a warning — and Thanksgiving later became an official holiday with President Lincoln’s 1863 proclamation and Congress setting it on the fourth Thursday in November.  MetroWest Daily News

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • In Massachusetts, it is illegal to cut down a Christmas tree from public land—families must buy pre-cut trees or visit one of the 250 local Christmas tree farms; those willing to travel can get a $5 permit to cut a tree in nearby New Hampshire or Vermont until Dec. 31.  MetroWest Daily News

  • Data from Realtor.com shows that Middlesex County’s median home listing price in October was $894,225, down from $899,950 last month and 6.3% lower than October last year. Homes moved quickly with a median market time of 33 days and a 2% drop in price per square foot to $467—1,342 new listings were added in October.  MetroWest Daily News
