COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Framingham officials canceled the holiday block party due to forecast extreme cold but will hold a tree lighting ceremony lasting 10 minutes at 6:30 p.m. today outside the Memorial Building and stream the event live on Facebook. Attendees can later visit local shops and restaurants downtown.  MetroWest Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • SGA approved funding of ($8,016) for FSU Model UN to attend Harvard’s National Model UN Conference via Zoom on Dec. 2 from unallocated Student Activities Trust Fund money; the conference in late January/early February will host six students and one staff member.  The Gatepost
  • The University announced its Framingham State Tuition Promise on Nov. 24 to cover tuition and fee costs for Massachusetts students with incomes up to $85,000. Eligible new students will receive aid next Spring (current students become eligible in Fall 2026) after completing FAFSA.  The Gatepost
  • Professor Yumi Park Huntington joined Framingham State with a background in ancient American art and ceramic studies from Korea and Virginia Commonwealth University—she now sparks lively classroom discussions and values open communication with her students and colleagues.  The Gatepost
  • Following a small fire in a residence hall on Nov. 12, school executives recommended FSU purchase emergency supplies (like blankets, ponchos, and basic necessities) to keep students warm during nighttime evacuations.   • Bath & Body Works is offering 3-wick candles for $9.95 each in-store as part of its annual Candle Day sale; the promotion runs today through Sunday with a limit of 24 candles per transaction to help ensure everyone can enjoy the deal.  MetroWest Daily News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Data from Realtor.com shows that in September Middlesex County homes sold at a median price of $749,500—a 6.3% decrease from August. Recorded sales increased from last September, indicating a shift in the local market.  MetroWest Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Framingham State Rams beat the Dean College Bulldogs 77-65 on Dec. 3 in a nonconference matchup, improving their record to 5-4; they will face New England College on Dec. 9.  The Gatepost
  • On Nov. 25, the Framingham State Rams won a 3+2 overtime game against the Franklin Pierce Ravens when Scott Bugarin scored the game-winning goal. The win improved their record to 3+4 as the team prepares for a conference matchup on Dec. 6.  The Gatepost
  • On Nov. 22, the Framingham State Rams won 6–0 over the MCLA Trailblazers in a conference game—using strong faceoffs and quick plays to secure a shutout. The team will play today against Albertus Magnus College in a non-conference match.  The Gatepost
  • The Framingham State Rams hosted their first NCAA playoff game on Nov. 22 and lost to LaGrange 24-21 in a nailbiter at home. The contest featured key turnovers and late pushes — a milestone moment for the program.  The Gatepost
